Current Exhibition: Vandasye - Found

Exhibition OPENING: 18.01.2018 at 6:00 p.m.

Duration of the exhibition:
19.01.2018 - 24.02.2018

From 19.01.2018 to 24.02.2018 the design office Vandasye presents under the title Found in the gallery space of rauminhalt_harald bichler selected works from their on going project "Found", which are inspired and derived from purpose furniture and auxiliary constructions. Especially for this exhibition, the designers put their works in direct connection with photographs of Peter Garmusch. The photos show cargo bikes and their handlebars from Kampala (Uganda) and photographically capture limitation, expediency and resulting solutions. In the context of the exhibition, the designers will present these photographs and their own objects in an interlocking installation to point out their common interest in the aesthetic potential of purposeful construction solutions.

The project ‚ÄúFound‚ÄĚ focuses on the analysis of the formal immaturity and integrity of auxiliary furniture, as they can be found in private as well as public spaces around the world. These objects are usually created without design processes and representation tasks and were made especially for the respective places of use. Their special formal archaism can be attributed to the fact, that this objects solely focus on their function an not on their form. The functionality in turn does not claim to be universally valid and derives exclusively from the respective needs. These aspects are crucial for the designers to derive their own objects and they understand the provisional purpose furniture, which seem to be free of any stylistic elements, as one of the last archaic prototypes of our time.
